On June 3, 2017, 25-year-old former American intelligence specialist Reality Winner is confronted by FBI agents arriving at her home to question her suspected role in the mishandling of classified information. Based on true events, the film’s dialogue is directly from the transcript of their tense and transfixing conversation.
Written and directed by Tina Satter and based on her 2019 play, “Is This A Room,” the film stars Emmy® nominee Sydney Sweeney (HBO’s “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus”) and debuted to rave reviews at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival.
Tina Satter | Director The writer and director for theatre and film is making her feature film debut with Reality, an adaption of her theatre play “Is This A Room” which premiered on Broadway in autumn 2021. Working with her theatre company Half Straddle, she has written and directed 11 full-length plays and a series of shorter performances and video works which have been presented across the USA and internationally. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2020.
Cinereach co-financed the production of Reality, alongside Burn These Words, In The Cut, Fit Via Vi and Tanbark. Reality premiered at Berlin International Film Festival 2023.
